LOGAN—Kurtis Hinkel believes not having money to buy equipment is no reason for a kid to miss playing baseball.
To minimize the cost, the Lo-Ma baseball coach is spearheading a little league equipment drive going door-to-door on Saturday, March 17, from 9 a.m. to noon.
“If you have any old baseball gear like gloves, bats, helmets, pants, balls and jerseys that is collecting dust, donate it to a good cause,” Hinkel said. “We will be recycling any of your old stuff to kids that may need it now.”
The drive is a first-time event, and the goal is for players to turn in the equipment at the end of the season and it will be passed on the next year.
“The idea is that they rent,” Hinkel said. “Players will pay $5 at the start of the season as a deposit, then will get that back when they return the equipment at the end.”
