WOODBINE — Sure, five or six runs in an inning is big for a team.
But in the top of the fifth inning against Sidney on June 5, the Woodbine Tigers scored 11 runs. They went on to win big by a final of 16-2.
Besides the 12 stolen bases in the game, juniors Colby Andersen, Alex Bantam, and Tyler Coberly each knocked a double as did eighth grader Cory Bantam.
Freshman Layne Pryor hit a triple, his first this season, and knocked in three RBIs.
Cory Bantam got the win. He threw 71 pitches and allowed two runs and three hits.
The Tigers suffered their second loss of the season against Coon Rapids-Bayard June 8 losing 3-0. Despite that, Alex Bantam pitched quite a ballgame.
He threw 110 pitches and had one earned run and two hits. He also struck out 13 batters.
On the season, Alex has struck out a total of 33 and has only two earned runs. His current ERA is 0.86.
