The 12 Logan-Magnolia wrestlers and four team managers.

LOGAN -- Logan-Magnolia School tied for third as a team at the Pender Junior High Wrestling Invitational in Pender, Neb. Monday, February 18.

Ahead of them was South Sioux City and Logan View in first and second, respectively, with 160 and 114 points, respectively.

South Sioux City had 30 wrestlers and Logan View had 21 while Lo-Ma had a dozen competing in the Invitational.

Logan-Magnolia tied with West Point—Beemer, who had 17 wrestlers at the meet, for third with 77 points.

In fifth place was Wisner-Pilger with 72 points and rounding out the top six was Oakland-Craig with 65 points.

“This tournament was awesome because it gave us a chance to wrestle different teams,” said Lo-Ma Coach Gene Esser.

The Lo-Ma wrestlers battled in a total of 36 matches and won 23 while losing 13 of them.

Of those matches, here is a list of all the Lo-Ma results in the third round: Kai Carritt, 7th, won 12-1; Tarick Rowe, 8th, won by forfeit; Calvin Collins, 7th, lost by pinfall; Daltyn Pitt, 7th, lost by decision 5-4; Jack Straight, 7th, lost by pinfall; Wyatt Reisz, 8th, won by pinfall; James Newton, 8th, lost by decision 8-0; Layne Brenden, 8th, won by pinfall; Jace Straight, 7th, lost by pinfall; Harley Christensen, 8th, won by pinfall; Evan Rhoten, 7th, lost by pinfall; Rex Meeker, 7th, won by pinfall.

These are the rankings: Carritt, Rowe, Reisz and Brenden, earned first; Collins, Newton, Christensen and Meeker, earned second; Pitt, Jack Straight and Rhoten, earned third; and Jace Straight earned fourth.

“The team got a lot of pins with 17 out of the 23 wins coming by way of pin,” said Lo-Ma Coach Kent Kersten.

I think our 12 wrestlers did a good job, Kersten added.
