With the track and field season rounding the corner quickly, the Lo-Ma boys and girls are excited for their first meet Monday, March 12.
Last season, the Panthers finished with 12 members competing in the Drake Relays in Des Moines, and the team is confident in producing similar results this year.
“I think the team has high expectations,” head coach Gene Esser said. “We finished 6th in state last year in class 1A, and we are now in 2A, but we have a lot of talented girls who have been to state and placed there.”
All 11 of the Lo-Ma girls members who competed at state will be returning for the upcoming season.
Of the returning competitors for the girls, keep an eye out for seniors Kaitlin Diggins, Delaney Ettleman, Alexis Fenders, Kylan Straight and Kenzie Cunard, as they look to make a lasting impact on Lo-Ma’s storied track and field legacy.
Both girls and boys teams hope to have more members end up back at the blue oval at the end of the season. And with Coach Esser at the helm, the Panthers should have much returning success this season.
