The Woodbine School Board has chosen four candidates to interview on March 18 and March 19 for the superintendent position that will become vacant at the end of this '19-20 school year.

Here is a brief look at each of the candidates:

Jeremy Christiansen started working at Fremont-Mills Community Schools in the Fall of 2004 as a Physical Education teacher/coach. He became the Activities Director in 2005 and continues in that capacity today. In addition, Jeremy has been working as the Fremont-Mills grades 5-12 Principal since July of 2009. His interview with the Woodbine Board and focus groups will take place on March 18, 2020.

Justin Wagner has worked at Harlan Community Schools starting in 2007 as the High School Principal, and he assumed the Superintendent duties July 1, 2010. Prior to 2007, Justin worked at South Sioux City Schools starting in 1997 as a Health and Physical Education teacher and he became the Assistant High School Principal from 1999-2007. His interview with the Woodbine Board and focus groups will take place on March 18, 2020.

Michelle Arneson Havenstrite is working at Nashua-Plainfield as the grades preK-6 Principal and District Curriculum Director. She started these duties in August of 2013. Prior to her work at Nashua-Plainfield, she worked at Prairie Lakes Area Education Agency from 2004-2013 as a Consultant for School Improvement/Leadership & Learning/Professional Development. Michelle’s interview with the Woodbine Board and focus groups will take place on March 19, 2020.

Dan Polk is currently the Superintendent at Elgin Public Schools in Elgin, Neb. He has been in this position since July of 2012.  Prior to 2012, Dan was Superintendent at Silver Lake Public Schools from 2009-2012, and he was Principal from 1996-2001 and Superintendent at Clarkson Public Schools from 2001-2009. Dan’s interview with the Woodbine Board and focus groups will take place on March 19, 2020.

As noted, two candidates will be interviewed each day. Each day will start out with the candidates taking a tour of the school with Jill Ridder, assistant principal and assistant SPED director, then a tour of the community with Deb Sprecker, director of the Woodbine Main Street organization.
