A crash occurred here in Harrison County on January 15, resulting in one fatality. Two others were injured in the accident.
At around 6:45 p.m., Cody Grandmont, 28 years old of Persia, was driving westbound on Highway 30, in his 1999 Saturn SL1, when for unknown reasons, he crossed the centerline into the eastbound lanes hitting a vehicle head on. 
The 1998 Buick Century that was hit was driven by Rebecca Smith, 34 years old of Council Bluffs. The other injured party was Austin Tasich, 31 years old also of Council Bluffs.
Both vehicles came to rest in the travel portion of Highway 30. The highway was closed for a period of time during the investigation, and it is still ongoing.
Grandmont was killed in the accident. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
Smith and Tasich were transported by ground ambulance to Bergan Mercy. Smith was not wearing a seatbelt. Tasich was wearing a seatbelt.
The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by the Missouri Valley Fire & Rescue and the Logan Fire & Rescue squads as well as the Harrison County Sheriff's Office, Missouri Valley Police Department and Iowa Department of Transportation (IDOT) Roads Department.
