WOODBINE — The Woodbine School Speech students performed very well at the District Large Group Speech Contest held in Clarinda January 19.

In Readers Theatre, Group Mime and Choral Reading, the School earned I Ratings.

And in Ensemble Acting, there were three different performances and each earned a I Rating, too.

The categories, names of the pieces and performers are as follows: “Ruffled Feathers,” Readers Theatre. Performers are Kaitlyn Malone, Autumn Vennink, Adam Sherer, Caleb Loftus, Jordan Butrick and Payton Taylor.

The Group Mime piece was called “Boot Camp Boogie,” and included Jordan Butrick and Amanda Heitman

In Choral Reading, the name of the performance was “Wolves

in the Walls.” Performers are Graces Moores, Marley Hansen, LeaLa Vazquez, Whitney Kuhlman, Sarah Jochims, Samantha Anderson, Ella Barnum, Breck Sullivan, Savannah Marshall, Josh Newton, Kail Brown, Kael Smith, Layne Pryor and Payton Taylor.

Make-up crew for this piece was Sarah Jochims, Grace Moores and Whitney Kuhlman.

In Ensemble Acting, the first one was called “Road Work.” Performers are Caleb Loftus, Elana Probasco and Grace Kanioka.

The next one was “Lost” and included Kaitlyn Malone and Autumn Vennink.

The final one was “Laughs” and Hailey Ryerson, Cuy Meeker and Adam Sherer performed this piece.

Sound and light technicians were Colby Andersen and Cory Bantam. The Woodbine Speech coaches are Nancy Heistand and Deb Sprecker.

The State Contest is on Saturday, February 2 in West Des Moines.
