Monday, March 4 was the first day that absentee and early voting ballots for two upcoming special elections were available to the public.
Special elections for the Logan-Magnolia and Missouri Valley school districts will be held Tuesday, April 2.
To receive an absentee ballot by mail, voters must submit a request form, which can be found on the Iowa Secretary of State website or at the County Auditor’s Office.
A handwritten request will be accepted if it includes this info: voter’s name, address, date of birth, date or name of election and the voter’s signature.
The deadline for the Auditor’s Office to receive a request for a mailed absentee ballot is March 22.
The deadline to vote in person at the Auditor’s Office is April 1.
The Lo-Ma School District is seeking to build, furnish and equip educational and gym additions and to remodel, repair, improve, furnish and equip its existing educational facility, including related site improvements and to contract indebtedness and issue general obligation bonds in an amount not to exceed $5.34 million.
The Missouri Valley School District is seeking to build, furnish, and equip an addition to the elementary school, including classrooms, conference and activity facilities.
They are seeking to remodel, improve, furnish, and equip the elementary school and improve the site and contract indebtedness and issue general obligation bonds in an amount not to exceed $4.115 million.
The District is also seeking to levy a tax upon all the taxable property within the District not to exceed 13 and a half cents per $1,000 of assessed valuation of the taxable property within the District for public educational and recreational activities and community education purposes.
