Local veterans groups will host Memorial Day Services Monday, May 29 in Logan, Woodbine and Magnolia.
Logan and Magnolia Memorial Day services will be held at two area cemeteries.
The services at the Logan Cemetery will be held at 10 a.m. and services at the Magnolia Cemetery will begin at 11 a.m. Local clergy will be the guest speaker for the two services. The National Anthem will be performed by the Logan-Magnolia Band under the direction of Band Director Alex Albertson. Boy Scout Troop 85, VFW Post 6256 and O’Hara Seeley Honor Guard will be in charge of the military honors for both services.
The Woodbine American Legion Weiss Post 143 will host Memorial Day services will be held at the Woodbine Cemetery.
Veterans, active military, American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary members are asked to assemble at the memorial at 10 a.m.
The ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m. with a welcome from Mark Westermeyer. The National Anthem will be performed by The Noteables.
Kennard Swift will raise the flag, followed by the invocation by Rosella Baker. Laying of the wreaths will be done by Nancy Marshall and Zoe Leonard. There will be a moment of silence prior to the keynote speaker, U.S. Air Force Senior Master Sgt. Edward Sostack, superintendent, Joint Intelligence Operations Center at the United States Strategic Command, Offutt Air Force Base, Neb. He will be introduced by Tony Smith. Dave Gardner will give the benediction and the American Legion will do a rifle salute, followed by the playing a “Taps” by Trent Willis and Colby Andersen.
